Tensegrities
in 2d
These are examples of tensegrities
in 2d. Tensegrities are structures in self-equilibrium that I
studied in the paper From
graphs to tensegrity structures: Geometric and symbolic approaches,
joint with
Miguel de Guzmán. Example 3.8 of that paper is the first
construction below.
The rest of constructions study the possible tensegrities for
3-connected
graphs on 8 vertices.
In the constructions red
edges are springs with resting length of zero, while blue
edges
have positive resting length. You are invited to move freely the points
and then push the "play" button to see the resultant tensegrity. All of
these constructions were created
using Cinderella 2.
